How to Make the School Run Less Stressful

As a parent, you’ll know just how difficult the school run can be at times. On days where nothing seems to go according to plan, especially, it’s important that you remain calm, organised and encouraged. By doing so, you will make this arduous yet all-important task a lot less stressful for yourself.

To find out how you can take the stress out of your school-run mornings, be sure to read on.

Stay calm… no matter what happens

There will be certain mornings where nothing seems to go to plan with regards to your school run. Your son will take an age getting out of bed and then refuse to shower, your daughter will become fixated with her morning cartoons and subsequently forget to eat her breakfast, it’ll start raining, you’ll miss the bus, and your kids will end up turning up to school halfway through their first lesson.

On mornings like this, it’s important to remain calm. While your children are eating their breakfast or showering, take a few minutes for yourself, take some deep breaths, and reframe your mindset. Doing so will make a world of difference to your stress levels. What’s more, it will also help you to figure out what action you need to take to ensure that the school run progresses smoothly going forward.

Have your own mode of transport

Having to rely on public transport or the generosity of others to get your kids to school is not an ideal situation to be in. If the bus is late, your kids are going to be late getting to their classes. If the person that you rely on for a lift is ever sick, you’re going to have to find an alternative way of getting your kids to school. For this reason, it’s recommended that you have your own mode of transport. When you have access to a car, you won’t have to worry about external forces making your mornings a lot more stressful than they need to be. Provided you’ve filled your tank up up with petrol and there are no mechanical issues with your vehicle, having your own mode of transport with provide you with more control over your morning schedule.

Of course, before you can own and drive a car you have to earn your driving license. Fear not, as this doesn’t necessarily have to be a particularly time-consuming task. You can fast-track your way onto the roads by taking a crash course with the Surepass Driving School Norwich. On such a course, you will work closely and intensely with a DVSA approved driving instructor over the course of one week. As a result, you won’t have to spend months on end learning to drive and feeling like you’re getting no closer to those elusive green ‘P’ plates.

If you’re not careful, the school run will heighten your stress levels and have a negative impact on your health. It is for this reason why taking the above advice is so important. Stay calm, get a car, and everything about getting your kids to school will no doubt be a lot less stressful for you.
